Magic: Finca el Platanillo is basically a modern day oasis. Every plant is grown with intentionality to sustain its counterparts and provide a balance to the land. Everyone has access to vegetable gardens, clean water, and education. Low key bragging, but they’ve received multiple certifications for their leadership in sustainability and were the first farm to set the standard for the Rainforest Alliance. Suck it Starbucks. The farm also boasts a full computer lab with internet access for the kids living on the land and neighboring communities. It was also awarded the SCA Sustainability award in 2017. How many times can we say sustainable? A lot.
It’s safe to say they’re crushing. But what also makes this community stand out is they’re research & development of coffee species. Out of 150 varietals, only the top tier make it onto the land and in your cup. That insane amount of meticulousness is what we’re sharing with you.
“The San Roque lot is a specially selected lot that blends 60% SL28, 30% (our most floral) Bourbon, and 10% Java. This combination provides a great balance overall with the added touch of the florality which brings you back to the smell of the farm. Come visit to find out.”
This is our second year carrying Stuardo Coto’s coffee, and this years cup is remarkably complex with deep sweetness, caramel, crisp green apple, and hints of cacao. yes.yes.yes.
